Description
Colored vermicelli is vermicelli that has been infused with natural or artificial coloring agents to give it a distinct color. Depending on the colorant used, colored vermicelli can come in a wide range of colors, including red, green, yellow, blue, and purple. Natural colorants used to color vermicelli include ingredients such as beetroot, turmeric, spinach, and carrot juice. Artificial colorants may also be used, such as food dyes like FD&C Red #40 or Yellow #5. Colored vermicelli can be used in a variety of dishes to add visual interest and appeal, such as in salads, soups, or stir-fries. It can also be used in desserts, such as in the traditional Filipino dish “bilo-bilo”, which features colorful balls made from glutinous rice flour and coconut milk served in a sweet syrup.
